A name like the modern gastronomic history of Ierissos.
In 1983, in the most central point of Ierissos, located close to the central pier, Christos Matakos and his wife Katerina started making gyros in a small grill shop, right under their house. But they made gyros – homemade, handmade. Katerina, a spotless housewife, washed and re-washed the pieces of local pork meat and Christos set up the meat reels.

Year after year, Matakos became a gastronomy brand – the gyros, the souvlaki, the burger and the other meats…
all handmadeby the owners, freshly kneaded and delicious.

In 2025 – after 42 years – Matakos Grill passed to the chief assistant of Katerina, Arta.Sheand her family continue the tradition, evolving with absolute respect the gastronomic history of Matakos.

Definitely ask for the classic sandwich or a portion of homemade gyros – it has a different (authentic) taste, nothing like anything frozen you have eaten elsewhere.
Burgers, Pork Chops, Soutzoukaki, Kebab, Steaks, Chicken and all grilled meats is based on thelocal production and cooked with mastery.
