An extraordinary experience
Live a gastronomic experience during the famous Mount Athos Area Kouzina culinary festival which will be held in the third leg of Halkidiki from the 15th of May until the 15th of June.
Halkidiki’s most picturesque village is Arnea. Its traditional architecture, history and romantic pathways accompanied by exceptional local cuisine makes it an ideal & tempting destination for those who want more than vacations! Needless to say that its people are hospitable full of joy and with the mood to narrate amazing stories that passed through generations. These days, go hiking to collect mushrooms and cook them uniquely, participate in a wine feast and live like an ancient Greek citizen by tasting ancient Greek recipes!
Day 1 (18/05/2016). Ancient Greek Cuisine.
Arrive at Thessaloniki’s International Airport and get transferred to Arnea, a town of 2,500 people in Northern Halkidiki, built at the foot of Mount Holomontas. Check in at your hotel (Prasino Chorio) and get acquainted to the beautiful village. Take a guided tour, enjoy your coffee and sweets and proceed to the restaurant of your hotel to have lunch. Relax at your hotel, and later in the evening take part to the event in which you will attend the chef preparing a special menu inspired by ancient Greek cuisine!
Day 2 (19/05/2016). Ancient Greek Cuisine
Begin your day with your breakfast. Take a tour at the beehives that are situated at Cholomontas Mountain; wear your beekeeper’s uniform and learn how to collect honey. Taste 5 different varieties of local honey and proceed to the local cheese factory where you will taste the famous Greek feta and goat cheese. Later on, visit a famous winery of Greece and participate at a wine tasting. Make a stop to have your lunch and get some rest and afterward visit an organic farm and collect fresh vegetables and fruit. Return to Arnea and have a delightful dinner inspired from ancient Greek cuisine.
Day 3 (20/05/2016). Ancient Greek Cuisine
Your day begins with a visit the local yogurt factory, learn how it is being produced and try it out. Later on, get transferred to Stagira, the birthplace of the famous Greek philosopher Aristotle. Get a guided tour and make a stop at the waterfalls of ‘’Varvara’’ to have a light lunch. Afterward, visit the Women Agritourist Association and learn how to make homemade marmalade. Relax a bit and get ready to have your dinner with a menu based on Ancient Greek cuisine.
Day 4 (21/05/2016). Departure Day
Enjoy your breakfast and get transferred to the airport full of unforgettable memories!
