Thanks to beekeeping, Christos Tsiaras believes that one can live with kindness, just like the bee, which only behavesrespectfully to nature, maintaining its society for centuries.
That is why, after his studies and his master’s degree in business administration, the beekeeper and creator of the beekeeping company Alsos, Christos, received a second master’s degree in life thanks to bees, with knowledge on a daily basis. After all, each hive is a separate unit, where all the principles of business administration are applied.
Alsos, which was created in Arnea in 2015, currently has 300 beehives, which travel, chasing the flowering from Eastern Halkidiki to Mount Pangaion and Thassos Island. In fact, Christos prefers Natura areas, taking advantage of their purity, but also to contribute to their preservation. Flower honey, pine honey, chestnut honey and heather honey (susoura) are the main categories of Alsos honey. Chestnut honey was awarded two stars at the 2022 Great Taste Awards, in the company’s first participation in the internationally renowned competition. Alsos’ next steps are to put its honey in stores and abroad. «I want to be a connecting link between nature and consumers, but always with respect for the bee», says Christos Tsiaras, who has also been involved in the common interests of the sector for the past three years, as he is President of the Arnea Beekeeping Association.
Christos studied accounting and continued his studies with a master’s degree in business administration. For several years he used to live in Thessaloniki and worked in a company, but he always wanted to create something of his own. So, in 2009 he moved back to Arnea, his place of origin, opening his own accounting office. Beekeeping was not in his life, but, as it turned out, it was written in the D.N.A. of his family, since his grandparents had occasionally dealt with honey as an amateur and loved this special art. Initially, he set up two beehives, seeing them as a hobby, but a hobby that evolved into a great love and led him to a new professional turn. Somehow, he stopped the accounting office and created his beekeeping business in 2015, starting a fascinating journey. The Sirens that “drawn him” were the contact with nature, the magical world of the bee, the harmony of its society, but also the philosophy behind it.
«I was impressed by how methodical they are in their work. It is a model of society», explains Christos Tsiaras, who even loved nomadic beekeeping and this constant hunt for nature’s spring in an environment full of fragrances.
