Wine

In 1973, Evangelos Tsantalis envisioned the renaissance of the Vineyard in Metochi Chromitsa, which was abandoned, and overcoming the difficulties, such as the non-existent roads and the lack of electricity, he created one of the most exquisite and qualitative vineyards of Europe.

Today in approximately 247 acres, at an altitude of 250 meters, far away from any form of pollution, they are being cultivated organic vineyards on the slopes around from the Metochi Chromitsa of the Holy Monastery of St Panteleimon.

The wines “Metochi Chromitsa”, “Agioreitikos”, and “Abaton” with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI)- Mount Athos, from native indigenous varieties, and the “Agioreitiko Tsipouro” are awarded every year in international wine and spirits competitions, available in 55 countries around the world.  Praised critics from prominent wine critics confirm their high quality.

Kormilitsa Red, with limited production from the organic vineyards of the metochi, has been certified as the official wine of the Kremlin.

The Tsantali winery and distillery, has been vinifying grapes, distilling tsipouro and ouzo since 1890.

The vineyards can be visited under arrangement with the Export Department & Public Relations. Tel: +30 23990 76100
